The JJ Abrams Timeline in a Nutshell
The so-called JJ Abrams timeline is actually known as the Kelvin timeline to the folks who write it for a living!
The reboot films contained a number of major changes. One was in Kirk; he was younger and cockier.
But another major change was in the Vulcan race. The planet is no more. Amanda Grayson dies – so Sarek becomes a widower.
And through it all, my first impression was, this species needs to repopulate. So instead of using test tubes and the like, I decided on human surrogate mothers. In point of fact, I added Andorian and Calafan surrogate mothers as well.
Truth is, when I first saw a challenge about this timeline, I had not seen any of the films. Now I’ve seen about 90% of the first one and all of the third. As for the second, well, the less said, the better.
As for Eriecho herself, she’s in demand, as is Saddik. Why? Because they have very little genetic connection to the other surviving Vulcans. Hence doctors can cross her gametes with those from nearly any surviving male Vulcan.
The Vulcan race will live again. And it is all thanks to people like Saddik and Eriecho.
But it will also rise again due to the other Vulcans they meet along the way. These include not only Sarek and Spock. They also include Valeris and Sollastek. And, because I could not resist, there’s a somewhat problematic Vulcan in the mix.
What does God need with a starship? I have no idea. But what does God or the JJ Abrams timeline need with Sybok? Tons. For he, too, will father the rise of what is essentially Vulcans 2.0.
